Poem: Perfection

Unattainable

Unwanted

Unwritten

Unspoken

Everything you work for is a lie

Perfection is not real

It’s plastic like a doll

Or a glass

That won’t break

What won’t break is untouchable

Unthinkable

Everything breaks

Even the perfect in us

The hate and hope and love in us

All of it can break

It’s what makes us real

It real

The world, flawed and crazy

All around us

Real.

How can you want perfection

When you live in the real world?
